How to set up Promotions.

Promotional codes are used to allow storefront users discounts on their orders.  To set up a promo code, go to the Administrators site.  Click on the Parts menu and then click Promotions.
 
The steps below explain how to set up the promotion and then how to apply it to the User Group to make it available to the portal users.


Add Promotion
 
1.)  Click Add Promo
 
2.) Select the Promotion Type:
 
Example: $PromoCode, %PromoCode, %ShipPromoCode, or $ShipPromoCode.
 
* Note: If selected type is $, then this will be the dollars off of the order total, if type is %, this will be the percent off the order total.   Also, if selecting Ship type promocode, ex: $ShipPromoCode, this means that the deduction is only applied to the shipping costs and does not include the order total of the products in the order.
 
If a non Ship Promo Code is selected and "Includes Shipping Cost" is checked, then this means the discount will apply to the order total plus the shipping cost.
 
If "Includes Fulfillment Charges" is checked and there is fulfillment charges set on the customer level, then discount will also apply to Fufillment Charges as well.
 
3.) Input the Discount Value
*Note that the value will be a whole number and percent or dollar amount is based on the type of PromoCode you have selected.  For instance, if %PromoCode is selected and you want to allow for 10% off the customers order total, input 10 into this field.   If $PromoCode is selected, and you want to allow 10.00 off the order, input 10 in this field.
 
4.) Check whether to include Shipping and / or Fulfillment Charges
If a non Ship Promo Code is selected and "Includes Shipping Cost" is checked, then this means the discount will apply to the order total plus the shipping cost.
 
If "Includes Fulfillment Charges" is checked and there is fulfillment charges set on the customer level, then discount will also apply to Fufillment Charges as well.
 
5.) Input the Promotion Name and Promotion End Date
 
6.) Input the Max Discount Allowed
If you input for example 50 in this field, then although the discount may calculate to be greater the user will only receive a discount up to this amount of 50.00.  
 
7.) Input the Minimum Order Amount
The value forces the customer to order a minimum dollar amount before they can receive their discount.  If you input the value of 100 in this field, their order total (or promocode type) must meet this minimum to receive the discount.
 
8.) Click Save
 
Add Promo Codes
 
1.) Input the PromoCode name
* ex: %10Off
 
2.) Set the expiration date and activate.
 
3.) Click Add Code
 
Set up User group
 
1.) Go to the User group needing access to promo codes
 
2.) Click on the Buyer Interfaces tab
 
3.) Opt Yes for "Allow Promo Codes"
 
Now the promo code field will be available to all users of the user group on the Placeorder page during checkout.
